Development of the LCN Discount Decision Sheet
Streamlining the LCN discount process by implementing a new "LCN Decision Sheet" interface, consolidating key data to improve decision-making and reduce operational risks. A solution integrating a new data source and REST API, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
Challenge:
The client, in alignment with its growth strategy, aimed to optimize its internal processes by identifying and addressing operational inefficiencies. Specifically, the focus was on improving the LCN (Lettre de Crédit Non) discount process, which had revealed several key challenges and operational dysfunctions. To resolve these issues and reduce the risk of errors, the bank decided to introduce a new interface called the "LCN Decision Sheet." This tool would consolidate all the relevant information required for decision-making, thereby enhancing accuracy and reducing operational risk. A crucial part of this initiative was integrating the system with a new data source to ensure the interface could function effectively.
Approach & Actions Taken:
The project began with a thorough requirement gathering phase, where the specific needs of the LCN discount process were identified and outlined. Following this, we established a collaborative cross-functional team consisting of both development and data specialists to ensure all aspects of the project were addressed. We used agile methodologies, specifically SCRUM, for both the development and data teams. We also employed the CRISP-DM framework for the data side to ensure a structured approach to data analysis and processing. A product backlog was created to prioritize tasks, which helped streamline the development process.
The project was carried out in four key sprints.
- Sprint 1, we focused on the batch loading process (Iteration 1), ensuring that data could be efficiently transferred and processed. I
- Sprint 2, we moved to the development of batch distribution (Iterations 2 and 3), which was essential for disseminating the gathered information throughout the system.
- Sprint 3 saw the implementation of the backend service, creating a robust infrastructure to support the new interface.
- Sprint 4, we completed the setup of the frontend interface and integrated the REST API to allow for seamless interaction between systems and user interfaces.
Throughout the project, we maintained continuous collaboration with all involved teams, holding SCRUM events to review progress, resolve any issues, and adjust plans as necessary. Additionally, we provided extensive support during functional and technical testing, ensuring that the final solution was fully optimized and ready for deployment.
Results:
As a result of this project, a new data source for unpaid debts was successfully integrated into the client’s system, improving the efficiency and accuracy of the LCN discount process. The batch loading process was deployed, ensuring timely and effective data processing. Moreover, the REST API implementation allowed for smooth integration and real-time updates between the system and the new interface.
Overall, the LCN Decision Sheet significantly improved the decision-making process, reducing operational risks and enhancing the client’s ability to make informed, data-driven decisions in real time. The successful implementation of this solution also contributed to streamlining operations, improving overall efficiency, and supporting the client’s long-term strategic goals.
